ISLAMABAD: Pakistan may see a "spike in cases" of the deadly coronavirus if people failed to follow the predetermined standard operating procedures (SOPs) on the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha and the holy month of Muharram, Prime Minister Imran Khan warned on Monday. Pakistan reported its lowest number of deaths in the last 24 hours after hitting a peak on June 20, said by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza.   LAHORE: At least nine people were killed in Punjab in two separate road accidents on Sunday. Four members of a family were killed after a trawler collided with a motorcycle in Lahore’s Sundar area on Sunday. According to rescue sources, the motorcycle collided with the trawler near Maraka, killing the four riders on the bike, a man, his wife and two kids. The deceased have been identified as Muneer Ahmed, Shakeela Bibi, seven-year-old Hammad and six-year-old Fatima, as per rescue sources said. In another incident, in Okara’s Renala Khurd district, five people were killed after a truck smashed into a motorcycle. As per rescue sources said a man, woman and three children were among those killed in the collision.  

ISLAMABAD: A teenager is thought to have drowned on Friday while making a TikTok video in Bahawalnagar’s Minchinabad, a private news channel reported. Mohammad Sufyan Sheikh was recording a video with his friends when he slipped from edge of the Sadiqia Canal and fell into it. His body has not been found yet. Rescue officials say they were having difficulty searching for the body due to the strong current. Sheikh’s family and friends had gathered near the canal. ISLAMABAD:  The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Thursday forecast a two-day monsoon spell for Karachi starting July 25.  Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz said a low air pressure system could form in the Indian state of Gujarat on July 24 which could later cause monsoon rains in the port city. Sindh could witness the latest spell from July 25 after it enters the province via the Rann of Kutch area. Rain is expected in Karachi between July 25 and 26 whereas it can also affect the south-westerly sea breeze.
