Nine person killed in Punjab (Road accidents)

 

LAHORE: At least nine people were killed in Punjab in two separate road accidents on Sunday.

Four members of a family were killed after a trawler collided with a motorcycle in Lahore’s Sundar area on Sunday.

According to rescue sources, the motorcycle collided with the trawler near Maraka, killing the four riders on the bike, a man, his wife and two kids.

The deceased have been identified as Muneer Ahmed, Shakeela Bibi, seven-year-old Hammad and six-year-old Fatima, as per rescue sources said.

In another incident, in Okara’s Renala Khurd district, five people were killed after a truck smashed into a motorcycle.

As per rescue sources said a man, woman and three children were among those killed in the collision.

Pakistan is reporting 87% decline in COVID-19 deaths, said by Dr Zafar Mirza

Pakistan reported its lowest number of deaths in the last 24 hours after hitting a peak on June 20, said by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza. "Today, we have the lowest number of deaths in Pakistan due to COVID-19 in last three months," tweeted Dr Zafar Mirza, adding that the country reported 20 deaths related to COVID-19 in a single day compared to the "peak" of 153 deaths the country reported on June 20. Dr Mirza shared that it was a "87% reduction" in COVID-19 related deaths, but warned that there was no room for "complacency".
